DTU currently has more than 6000 employees and 11200 students and is recognized for its high level of international research and its sought-after graduates.
DTU Space is one of DTUs 16 institutes with all staff and facilities located at the Lyngby Campus just North of Copenhagen. The institute is by far the largest public space laboratory in Denmark with 170 employees, and it operates as the national focal point and competence center for space activities in Denmark, hence the name National Space Institute.
The Division of Geodesy and Earth Observation at DTU Space is participating in a wide array of research projects and scientific activities ranging from improving GNSS positioning systems to climate related ice and sea monitoring and modelling. The division works with research in geodetic infrastructure such as realization of geodetic reference frames, modelling of geodynamic activities, and development of the GNET ground based GNSS infrastructure in Greenland. The division has a strong research group in positioning and navigation of unmanned vehicles, and the division has developed, implemented and now operates the TAPAS real time kinematic (RTK) GNSS-based research platform for autonomous mobility in the city of Aarhus in Denmark.
